Join us for Horizons at SFFS' Annual Benefit!

Event Details:

  • Horizons' Annual Benefit will be held at SOMArts on January 31, 2019 from 6:30-9:30 pm.
  • Enjoy wine, small bites, and desserts; hear from our inspiring speaker Alejandra Rincón; and raise your paddle to build bridges to a more just, inclusive future.
  • This is a 21+ event. Public transportation and ride shares are strongly encouraged as alcohol will be served. However, street parking is available and usually plentiful after 6pm. A flat rate, uncovered parking lot is also accessible at 935 Brannan at 8th Street.

 

 

More About Our Speaker:

 

Alejandra Rincón, PhD is an educator and professional with over 20 years' experience addressing educational barriers affecting students of color, English Language Learners, immigrant and Latino students. She currently serves as Assistant Vice-Chancellor and Chief of Staff for the Office of Diversity and Outreach at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). Previously, as the Vice President of Scholarships and Programs at the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, Dr. Rincón oversaw over $30M per year in scholarship giving, and was responsible for a range of programs geared towards the recruitment, retention and graduation of Latino students from institutions of higher education.

 

In 2009, Dr. Rincón's advocacy was recognized in a feature article in People en Español, one of the most widely distributed Spanish language magazines in the world. She is also the 2006 recipient of the Human Relations Award of the National Association of College Admissions Counseling in recognition of her leadership in expanding postsecondary education opportunities for historically underrepresented students.
